Inspired by Will's trapeze adventures I googled for something similar in Seattle and came across the school of acrobatics & new circus arts and as luck would have it, they had an adult acrobatics class tonight so I went to check it out.
The class started out with about a half hour of working on headstands and handstands. Then we paired up and worked on a whole bunch of balancing moves where both people are supporting eachother's weight - it's all very cirque du soliel, I love it! The last part of class we got to work on the trampoline.
They also have classes in aerial acrobatics - mainly the trapeze - so I can't wait to try that out as well.
One of the best things about the class is that it is a great core workout - far better than any of the latest trendy core workouts you'll find at the gym. One reason is that this core workout has a purpose - you won't be able to do half the moves if your core isn't strong enough.
Another thing I love about the class is how closely it ties in with my diving - especially the trampoline work. In vancouver the diving club had their own trampoline so I could work on things there. The diving club here has no dry land facilities. Now I've found a place with a trampoline!
